Choices Application

Families can apply to six different school choice programs on one application: Magnet, Permits With Transportation, Dual Language Education, Schools for Advanced Studies, Unique Education Pathways and Affiliated Charter Schools.

Unique Education Pathways (UEP)

The Unique Education Pathways offer specialized programs with additional selection requirements. L.A. Unified offers two single-gender Leadership Academies with a focus on science, technology, engineering and math, four Early-College Programs with concurrent enrollment opportunities for high school students and two Individual Honors Programs (IHP) for advanced students.

Affiliated Charter Schools

Affiliated Charter Schools are semi-autonomous District schools with instructional program flexibility to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Anyone outside of the resident attendance boundary can apply. Resident attendance boundary families should enroll directly at the school.

Zones of Choice

Matriculating 5th and 8th grade students residing within a Zones of Choice may rank their school options in order of preference.

Zones of Choice are identified as geographic areas comprised of multiple school options (middle schools and high schools). Based on your home address, your child’s home school will be one of the school options that make up your residential Zone of Choice. Students residing in a Zone of Choice are eligible to attend ANY school in the Zone.
